Andrew Chaplowitz on the passing of Zig Ziglar

Zig Ziglar passed on earlier this year at the age of eighty-six.
Mr. Ziglar's books and tapes were among the first I listened to on sales and motivation.
A riveting public speaker, a sales champion who sold cookware door-to-door (or as Zig would say, "person-to-person, a door can't purchase") and set records that were never broken.

One of the most telling statements he made was that, when he lived his personal and professional life on Christian values, rather than on the money, the money would come. I like that.

Also a philanthropist, Mr. Ziglar's programs were offered in prisons.

I saw Mr. Ziglar speak once live, in the early 1990's, in Northern NJ. Needless to say, he was great, kept his wits about him, even as two microphones failed.

Loved his humor. Some examples:

"some of the kids today are so laid back, they're laid out".

"the person was not fat, they're weight was perfect. They were, however, about six inches too short."

"people with chips on their shoulder, usually get it from the wood falling from directly above"

I will always remember the great Zig Ziglar.
